Barnes
and Nobles have become my new favorite spot to relax, people watch, and do
some research online. I enjoy the café and seeing older ladies set up tables to
play a game of cards. They remind me of the Golden Girls TV show.
Today, I decided to walk through the aisles of the book store. Stacks of books were on
the floor, sitting on tables and sitting up on shelves. Thousands of pages of
theories, concepts, ideas, information and just words. I had a thought. Books
now are just as savory as a Starbucks on every corner. Where is the originality? Everyone is writing
a book without substance or any sense of personal authenticity. Books on the same
subjects, same ideas, same insights or experiences but paraphrased differently.
Creativity has been sold for profit instead of being simply enjoyed for for substance, personal uniqueness and
experience.
I've always dreamed of having my books published. However, after seeing all that I've seen I believe that dream has taking a metamorphosis into another form.
People do not need another book for trying to figure out anything
or another book to explain something or another book to telling the ‘how to’s’
of living life. Everyone is seeking answers in a book through the base of
information when the answer is right in front of them and within them. It’s
never been outside of them but always within. That’s why nothing satisfies and
like an addict got to get the next book to get the fixation of information to
feel like you no longer are missing something. I have nothing against books. I
just realized that the search for knowledge and information is two different
things. Information is just words on a page without substance. Information is
just like data on a computer that takes up space in the hard drive of our
brains. Knowledge and wisdom are what people’s heart yearn for. Knowing themselves and the wisdom to
simply be themselves.
